Year 10 Key Information – Parents/Carers
We are now well into the Autumn term and Year 10 are fully immersed in their GCSE courses; we are really pleased with the way in which they have engaged, in spite of the challenges posed by Covid-19.
Whilst it is our hope that your children return home to you each day and give you an in-depth account of everything they have learned that day and the methods used to teach them, the reality is that you are probably lucky if they tell you what they ate for lunch. This, we know, can be extremely frustrating and can leave parents/carers feeling quite helpless at times, particularly when all you want to do is support them to do their best (it’s not nagging, whatever they might say).
So, we have put together a series of videos about what your child is studying in GCSE Maths, English and Science, including some ways in which you can help and support them. We will be adding to this collection with videos on topics such as study skills, supporting your child’s mental health and many other things that we think might give you a fighting chance of keeping up with them over the next 18 months. The most important thing is to ask us if you’re not sure about anything – the best way of getting in touch is via firstname.lastname@example.org and directing your query to your child’s tutor in the first instance.
Please click on the links below to access the videos – we will update you when new content is added. Please note, Mr Stacey’s English video is accompanied by a handout to summarise the key content.
