Languages Day

Languages Day
posted 28 Nov 2017

On Monday 31st October Year 7  were experimenting with a variety of new words and sounds as they were introduced to a selection of different languages from all around the world.

All Year 7 pupils spent the morning having taster lessons in a vast number of languages including Portuguese, Swedish, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Polish, Welsh and Tagalog. Some students also had the opportunity to learn about Non Verbal Communication and Semaphore.

The sessions were offered not only by staff from the Priory Languages Department but from students and staff across the whole school and from volunteers from outside the school. Even Mrs Massey’s dog demonstrated she had learnt commands in Portuguese!

The atmosphere in the school hall was buzzing with songs, games and mimes, all helping pupils to gain a knowledge of languages from around the world. Pupils appreciated the opportunity to extend their horizons and learn key words from other cultures. It was a fun-packed and exciting day!
