Community - Old

Welcome to The Priory School Community Page

The Priory School recognises its position as a vital part of the community, and provides opportunities for our students to broaden their understanding and experiences of the community they are part of, incorporating local, regional, national and global communities.

Bridging the Generation Gap – innovative training for the elderly

Year 10 students visited an Age Concern Day Care Centre over a period of time and worked with their clients teaching them how to use the Nintendo Wii and surf the net.

The sessions were a great success with really positive evaluation comments from clients such as "We want more time please" This has been a really useful and positive experience for us" "We learnt about equipment that was not familiar to us, golf was really interesting" 98% of Clients thought the sessions were very good and would not change anything. Student evaluations showed they really felt the sessions were rewarding and they were helping people. They felt fulfilled and couldn't believe some of the reactions to learning new technology.

Business Interviews

After talking to local small to medium businesses in our area we were made aware of the difficulty they had in releasing staff to come to school and talk to the students. Our Head of Business came up with the idea of producing a professional DVD of a selection of businesses who were interviewed by Year 10 students. A DVD was produced titled "The Priory School 5 Business Interviews" which was used as  learning resource.
