Year 7 have raised a fantastic £1205.50 so far, through a school sponsored read - Priory Reads - organised by the English department and school library. Just before Christmas all year 7 students spent a week reading as much as possible, enjoying relaxing read-ins during their English lessons and getting hygge in the cold weather with blankets, snacks and books!
Staff across many different subject areas provided inspiration with book recommendations or by sending in photos of themselves reading in favourite or interesting locations. These have been displayed all around school. The library was buzzing that week with eager year 7 students looking for their next good book and we offered a free book swap area too, so it was extra easy for pupils to get involved.
50% of the money raised will go to school chosen charities: Cancer Research UK, Severn Hospice and Dogs Trust. The other 50% will be spent on new school books. We would like to say a big thank you to all parents/carers, friends and family who have supported Priory Reads.
If anyone still needs to deposit sponsor money please use ParentPay or send any cash/cheques along with the sponsor form to the school shop (cheques made payable to The Priory School). The winner of the pupil reading/photo competition will be announced very soon!
