Fantastic Victory for Year 10 Football!

Fantastic Victory for Year 10 Football!
posted 14 Jun 2017

The year 10's showed unbelievable character in a game where we went in as the underdogs. Burton Borough have only lost 1 game this season but scored in every match with an average 5-2 victory. They showed their class in the first 10 minutes creating a number of chances and going close to taking the lead.

Then, we scored. A long throw by Robbie, some poor defending and it eventually fell to Joe Mullaly who put us in the lead with his head. It was a game changer and we dominated from here on. Brandon, with an exceptional strike from out the area which thundered into the net and we found ourselves 2-0 up. We knew the game wasn't over as they had overcome a 2-0 down half time score to Madely to win 4-2 in the Telford District Final last week, but on the stroke of half time, Sam Carter belted in into the back of the net from close range, a demoralising blow to their lads.

The second half saw an attempt of a come back and hope in the Burton Borough boys but a string of subs who all played their part in what turned out to be their greatest team victory, the tides were once again turned and we dominated play, seeing out the last 30 minutes of the second half in a true champions performance.

Man of the Match went to Will Harris.
