CILIP CARNEGIE MEDAL 2017 - WINNER ANNOUNCED & IDSALL TEAM QUIZ 'THE BASHES'

The Priory Library has been following the CILIP Carnegie Medal 2017 book award closely this year and the winner has been announced....the refugee story 'Salt To The Sea' by Ruth Sepetys.  It is a fictionalised account of the worst yet least known maritime disaster in history.

Stories of refugees and displaced children dominated the 2017 Medals and the Amnesty CILIP Honour commendation went to 'The Bone Sparrow' by Zana Fraillon.  Both books are available to borrow from the library now.

Just before the winner was announced, a team of Priory students attended a Carnegie team quiz at Idsall School called 'The Bashes' on Thursday 15th June.   Our team 'Blurbs' was made up of Finlay Markey 7A, Erin McGinley 7H, Harrison Sharpe 7W, Henry Sewell 7D, Khalid Osman 8C, Elissa Madin 9A, Sophie Jones 9C, Jess Gunner 9B and Isobel Paterson-Hickey 9D.

Team Blurbs worked together excellently, behaved impeccably and happily read books out of their comfort zones.  Although we did not win (our final position was 4th), Team Blurbs all enjoyed the experience and received literary goodie bags thanks to Peters Books.
